\n\nGranpa Frog, who is an official member of the Gomagic group on the OGS, is holding an unofficial August (2023) Gomagic \"Vasya Lozhkin\" tournament.
\n\nVasya Lozhkin is a Russian artist and designer, musician, founder of the music collective Ebonite Kolotun (Эбонитовый Колотун), and leader of the band Vasya Lozhkin and Some People (Вася Ложкин и какие-то люди). He is a member of the \"Witch Artists\" (Колдовские художники) society. The subjects of his paintings are often alcoholics, pensioners, hares and cats.
\n\nVasya Lozhkin's paintings are very popular in Russia. He has exhibitions, with images of paintings are released a lot of merchandise. Residents of Russia argue: is Vasya Lozhkin a real artist or not? In his paintings he laughs at Russia or not? Are his paintings serious or not? Are his paintings a criticism of Russian life? And so on.
\n\nSome fans on the Internet call Vasya \"the main Russian surrealist of the XXI century\". But Lozhkin himself would not hang such a label on himself:
\n\"- What surrealist? I have never been able to draw and do not know how to draw, - he is surprised in a conversation with the author of the blog \"Super!\". - I am self-taught. Some people believe that Vasya Lozhkin is a representative of the so-called \"degenerate art\".
\n\nPersonally, I believe that in his paintings Vasya Lozhkin ironizes Russian social myths. That is, the subjects of the paintings describe the established social perceptions of some aspects of life in Russia, and the images and style of the paintings indicate an ironic attitude to such views, emphasizing the inconsistency with reality (fairy tale) of this understanding of life.
\n\nSome of Vasi's very good paintings do not conform to European and American ideas of political correctness. I, to my deep regret, cannot show them here.

\n\n\nAs my spiritual mentor Rie Rasmussen says: \"Darling! Don't confuse Claude Monet and Edouard Manet. It's vulgar!\" I'm sure that no matter how well you play go, you sometimes act vulgar, that is, confuse these painters. Drink your painkillers, now we're going to surgically correct your flaws. Hehe.
\n\nÉdouard Manet was a French painter, master of etching, who was at the origins of Impressionism. The paintings of Édouard Manet, who rid painting of academic clichés, remained misunderstood for a long time.
\n\nDuring Manet's lifetime, the public was not ready to accept his world view, as well as the creative views of the artist's associates Camille Pissarro, Paul Cézanne, Edgar Degas, Pierre Renoir and Frédéric Basil. It seems unbelievable now, but the first exhibition of the reformist painters failed miserably.
\n \nThe first painting with which Edouard Manet enters contemporary art life in Paris was the famous Breakfast on the Grass, which appeared in the Salon des Outcasts in 1863.

\n\nThe scandal that erupted around \"Breakfast on the Grass\" was unparalleled. The same thing happened again with \"Olympia\" in 1865. Both paintings were in the spotlight and subjected to ridicule, ostracism in the press, which is not shy in expressions, called the artist and his characters. But the plot of \"Breakfast on the Grass\" is really incomprehensible. On the one hand depicts an absolutely mundane scene: at that time it became customary to go on a weekend picnic, often on the banks of the Seine. The Impressionists would produce many paintings on this theme, including Georges Seurat's famous Grand Jatte.
\n\nThis custom of certain segments of Parisian society developed quite a long time ago. But viewers were puzzled by Manet's portrayal of the picnic, and could never find an unambiguous explanation. It hasn't been found until now, because it simply doesn't exist. The first thing that surprised was the completely naked woman in the foreground in the company of two dressed men, one of whom is pointing his hand at her, or maybe not at her, dressed not in modern fashion, but in the fashion of an earlier time.
\n\nIn the background is a body of water, which is wonderfully painted: the artist paints the water and the landscape with great skill. And there, bent over, stands another half-naked woman. It is impossible to explain why he joins such a group here.
\n\nThe naked woman is a favorite model of Manet, which will be the heroine of many paintings. She will also appear in \"Olympia\" - Victorine Meuran. She was a professional model, it painted not only Manet. She attracted artists with her unusual appearance, but she did not end very happily: she tried to become an artist herself, began to paint and even a little bit of exhibition, but drugs and alcohol ended her life.
\n\nIn Breakfast on the Grass, those features of Manet's work mentioned above already appear. The group in the foreground goes back to a painting by Raphael, which has not survived, but was very well known from an engraving by Raimondi. And the female figure in the background goes back to one of Leonardo da Vinci's images. This resemblance was immediately revealed, and reproaches began immediately against the artist for lack of imagination. In these visual, precisely visual, rather than semantic formulas, Manet squeezes modern life.
\n\nClaude Monet, the French painter credited with inventing one of the most fascinating art movements of the 19th century, created an enormous number of incredible paintings. During his nearly 70-year career, Claude Monet (life years 1840-1926) created about 2,500 works of art, and all the while he diligently adhered to the ideals of the Impressionist art movement.
\n\nIt was because of his painting describing the sunrise in the port of Le Havre that the new artistic movement would later be so called.
