One of the largest actions was held on February 23, 1917 on the old style (which is March 8 in our calendar), on the streets went out textile workers.\n\nIn the Soviet Union this day was celebrated as an official holiday since 1919, was originally called the International Women's Day, but from the end of the 1920s it was called the International Women's Day. By the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of May 8, 1965 this date was declared a day off. group on the OGS, is holding an unofficial May (2023) <a href=\"https://gomagic.org\">Gomagic</a> \"May Holidays\" tournament.</p> \n\n<p>The USSR had, and Russia has, a great many holidays and anniversaries. In fact, a memorable date can be found every day. The USSR used to publish an annual \"tear-off\" calendar like this: <img src=\"https://pavelgvozdev.ru/ogs_tournament/may_holidays/calendar.jpg\" width=\"600px\" alt=\"the soviet calendar for every day\"> It consisted of 364 pages, one page for each day. When the day passed, the page had to be torn off. Each day of the calendar was marked with some memorable date. The Day of the Taking of the Bastille (July 14) was especially popular with people. Perhaps this popularity was due to the fact that Soviet citizens did not like to drink alcoholic beverages (vodka) for nothing. They always tried to drink in honor of some holiday.
