February frosts have always been stronger than Christmas and Epiphany frosts. There are Russian proverbs \"February is a fierce month: he asks like he has shoes\" and \"February has two friends: a snowstorm and a blizzard\" (\"Февраль — месяц лютый: спрашивает, как обутый\" и \"У февраля два друга: метель да вьюга\"). These proverbs rhyme in Russian.\n\nThis year, Oleneksky District of Yakutia recorded the lowest temperature in Russia since the beginning of the season. On January 10 the thermometer showed -62! Even in Oymyakon, which is considered the \"center of cold\" in Russia, the temperature was \"warmer\" (-59).\n\nThe settlement is located above the Arctic Circle. On these days the sun doesn't rise there at all. Thus, the 60-degree frost holds all day long!\n\nThis is January, we are cautiously waiting for February frosts.\n\nIn other countries there is an anecdote that bears walk on the streets in Russia. This is true, but they walk the streets rarely.\n\nFor example, there was such an interesting case, a polar bear ran into one of the entrances of an apartment building on the Novaya Zemlya archipelago in the Arkhangelsk region.\nhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2k57rbd0dg\n\nBears on the streets can sometimes be found in large cities.
