jillgoodgal[8k]: white still gets the net, but little room to develop

mark5000[7d]: So we've learned about two responses to this approach: A and B
mark5000[7d]: That's all the material I prepared for this lesson. Are there any questions about these patterns or anything else we talked about? :)
jillgoodgal[8k]: what if white jumps out after the pincer instead?

mark5000[7d]: Like this?
mark5000[7d]: This is also possible.

jillgoodgal[8k]: yes, now depending on what is in the top right it seems potential to isolate the black corrner or M17
mark5000[7d]: But many people wouldn't like to solidify Black's right side area like this.

mark5000[7d]: But you're correct. After Black solidifies the framework, White can change direction and shoulder hit or pincer this black stone.
mark5000[7d]: The result would be even, or nearly even, with Black having a slight edge.
jillgoodgal[8k]: and white
jillgoodgal[8k]: q17 or
jillgoodgal[8k]: Q18 could be played later
mark5000[7d]: Good eye.
mark5000[7d]: Q17 is still a key point for both players.

mark5000[7d]: Actually, Black can play here first.
mark5000[7d]: It just emphasizes the corner at the expense of the right-side framework.

mark5000[7d]: White would push Black down in sente.

mark5000[7d]: Other questions?
jillgoodgal[8k]: thank you for the lesson!
mark5000[7d]: You're welcome!
jillgoodgal[8k]: I have been emphasizing jumping out recently since otherwise I end up defending tiny groups

mark5000[7d]: If you play the joseki that we studied today, you can't go wrong. Feel free to experiment with jumping out from this approach though!
jillgoodgal[8k]: you might still get the joseki after jumping out
Move 0 + 10
mark5000[7d]: If White extends, White can jump to A or B later.
mark5000[7d]: This is probably the most common.

mark5000[7d]: All right. Thanks for watching, everyone. See you next time.
