๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: so 23061995 in that script?
Samraku[1d]: yep
Samraku[1d]: I'll wait until you get it working to start
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: yeah i think it works now
Samraku[1d]: You see the letters up above the chat?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: ye ^^
Samraku[1d]: Okay :)
Move 1
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: so now 2 w stones?
Samraku[1d]: yep

Samraku[1d]: it will explicitly say "PASS" instead of B or W when you need to pass
Move 3
Move 21
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: oh wait its 2 b moves
Samraku[1d]: yep
Move 22
Samraku[1d]: I was wondering if you'd see the TM tactic
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: my first time on this ^^
Move 26
Samraku[1d]: I still miss those types of things in TMG, though it's becoming a lot less common
Move 38
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: yaay points xD
Move 60
Samraku[1d]: Hi, Vsotvep
Move 73
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: hmm right right

Samraku[1d]: I am trying to limit your options for your double-move here, yes.
Move 74
Samraku[1d]: Trying to strengthen Black's naturally strong BBWWBB sequence
Move 119
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: haaha
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: right right >___<

Vsotvep[2d]: Tough game
Move 150
Panada[8k]: yea. i dont think ill be able to play this XD
Move 151
Vsotvep[2d]: It's fun, it tickles your brain in a very weird way if you're used to normal go (orthogo, as Samraku calls it)
Move 263
Samraku[1d]: oops
Samraku[1d]: was that a pass for me?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: yeah i think its your move >__>
Move 265
Samraku[1d]: yeah; thanks
Move 268
Vsotvep[2d]: Oh no! You passed twice, now the move numbers will not line up
Move 269
Panada[8k]: they could always undo
Move 271
Panada[8k]: not that thay can see us till they end the game
Move 275
Panada[8k]: o $*!%. that bottom left white group is almost dead
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: wasnt it your turn to pass now?
Samraku[1d]: I think we messed up correcting the undo
Samraku[1d]: Vsotvep caught it
Samraku[1d]: I think we need to undo to thant point
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: or just continue from here?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: should matter that much
Move 276
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: *shouldn't
Samraku[1d]: no, I messed up later
Samraku[1d]: 274
Samraku[1d]: I should have passded
Samraku[1d]: can you request undo?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: oh well that doenst' matter ^^
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: lets just play from this ^^
Vsotvep[2d]: In the grand scheme of things nothing matters :P
Samraku[1d]: my 1-5 move shouldn't be here
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: its ok, 1 extra b stone doesnt change the result xD
Panada[8k]: black has a huge advantage atm yea. thers not much white can do atm
Move 277
Vsotvep[2d]: SE tells me B+77
Move 279
Panada[8k]: aye. black gained a lot when it killed the J1 group
Samraku[1d]: Close enough now
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: hmm buts its my turn to pass now >___>
Samraku[1d]: correct number of stones for each
Samraku[1d]: It's WBBWBWWBBWWBWBB
Samraku[1d]: WWBBWBWWBBWWBWBB
Move 281
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: so i pass now?
Samraku[1d]: yeah
Samraku[1d]: sorry I messed it up
Move 283
Samraku[1d]: WBWWBBWWBWBBWW
Move 284
Vsotvep[2d]: It's sad that a single mistake can really make it difficult to get back on track with the game
Move 285
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: now mine twice?
Samraku[1d]: yep
Move 291
Samraku[1d]: WWBWBBWWBBWBWWBBWWBWBBWB
Move 295
Samraku[1d]: WBBWWBBWBWWBBWWBWBBWB
Samraku[1d]: I'm just typing these out based on my physical turn tracker, so feel free to request any easy to do formatting which would make the moves easier to read
Move 299
Samraku[1d]: WWBBWBWWBBWWBWBBWBWWBWBBWWBBWBWW
Move 303
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: i pass?
Samraku[1d]: yep
Move 307
Samraku[1d]: WWBBWWBWBBWBWWBWBBWWBB
Move 313
Samraku[1d]: WBBWBWWBWBBWWBBWBWW
Move 315
Samraku[1d]: note
Move 317
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: is it pass again?
Samraku[1d]: no
Samraku[1d]: WBBWBWW
Move 318
Samraku[1d]: I sent the earlier a tad early, sorry
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: >____>
Move 321
Samraku[1d]: WBWWBWBBWWBBWBWW
Samraku[1d]: now on time
Move 323
Samraku[1d]: WWBWBBWWBBWBWW
Move 328
Samraku[1d]: WWBBWBWWBWBBWBWWBBWWBWBBW

Samraku[1d]: pass and then above
Move 331
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: oh so were usinga rea scoring?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: *area
Samraku[1d]: yeah
Move 339
Samraku[1d]: WWBWBBWBWWBBWWBWBB
Move 341
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: i guess i could have just passed
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: but
Move 342
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: hehee thank you!
Vsotvep[2d]: It's area scoring and all dame are filled, so it doesn't matter
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: it was weird xD
Samraku[1d]: thank you for the game
Samraku[1d]: sorry for messing up the move order
Vsotvep[2d]: Good game :)
Panada[8k]: that was fun to watch
Samraku[1d]: It's even more fun to play
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: hahah that took almost 3 hours xD
Vsotvep[2d]: Now it's time to see Leela freak out
Samraku[1d]: :D
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: hmm i should learn some tmg tactics for the next time ^^
Vsotvep[2d]: You could play against me, I haven't won from Samraku yet
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: ^____^
Samraku[1d]: Best way to learn TMG tactics right now is playing games, afaik
Vsotvep[2d]: He's been practicing too much
Samraku[1d]: Only thing I've been doing is trying to get games with people
Vsotvep[2d]: I like the idea of setting up a small tournament
Samraku[1d]: I do too
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: hmm
Vsotvep[2d]: low key round robin: each week you play one game against an opponent
Vsotvep[2d]: a few weeks later, Samraku is declared champion
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: could that scrips also pass for us instead just showing that its turn to pass?
Samraku[1d]: flovo has one
Vsotvep[2d]: I guess it wouldn't be too difficult to put in it
Samraku[1d]: I don't recall if he's released it or not
Panada[8k]: how did you put a script in the game XD
Vsotvep[2d]: Through a javascript injection plugin in the browser
Samraku[1d]: with Tampermonkey, which inserts javascript into webpages after they load
Samraku[1d]: or what Vsotvep said :D
Panada[8k]: weird
Vsotvep[2d]: See thue morse-fair-sharing-sequence-a-possible-alternative-to-komi and onwards (Samraku made some improvements and put it on github)
Vsotvep[2d]: sorry, wrong link
Samraku[1d]: Just formatting; Vsotvep did 99% of the work you see in that script.
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: butr htanks for the game again, it was both fun and weird ^___^
Samraku[1d]: Thank you for playing
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: i need a smoke now ^^
Vsotvep[2d]: There's also one by flovo, written in python: thue morse-fair-sharing-sequence-a-possible-alternative-to-komi
Samraku[1d]: ^
Vsotvep[2d]: (I guess it's python)
Vsotvep[2d]: (not sure how to implement it)
Samraku[1d]: Me neither; I've never used Python
Panada[8k]: are there pros that played gams like this XD
Samraku[1d]: Not to my knowledge
Vsotvep[2d]: As far as I know, BHydden invented this game type on the forum
Samraku[1d]: Would you like to play a correspondence game (or live; either one (or both)), Panada?
Panada[8k]: it doesnt look like python
Samraku[1d]: maybe Ruby?
Samraku[1d]: I only dipped my toe in that one once and couldn't stand it
Samraku[1d]: Only thing worse is SQL syntax
Samraku[1d]: It's like the person who designed SQL never heard of an object, and the people who chose query languages to build databases around never heard of picking a language that was decades out of date.
Samraku[1d]: The only thing it has going for it is ubiquity and tradition
Samraku[1d]: sorry for off topic; I do not like SQL
Vsotvep[2d]: I don't like it either
Vsotvep[2d]: I tried using it twice, both times the whole project came to a halt and was abandoned because of SQL :P
Samraku[1d]: :D
Vsotvep[2d]: Only thing I needed was a three dimensional database
Vsotvep[2d]: guess I should probably approach that whole thing from a different angle
Vsotvep[2d]: Anyways, fun game!
Panada[8k]: aye
Samraku[1d]: Like, in a "SELECT FROM WHERE" statement, you would expect from the syntax that maybe the result of WHERE is being passed to FROM, whose result is then passed to SELECT. But no, if you look at what the statement actually does, it conceptually takes the output from FROM, passes it to WHERE, and passes the result of that to SELECT.
Samraku[1d]: yeah, enjoyable gme
Panada[8k]: im sure if you suggest it to the site owners they could look into intergrating it
Samraku[1d]: Might be a hard sell with only a half-dozen to a dozen active players
Samraku[1d]: not sure on exact numbers
Vsotvep[2d]: It'll be integrated after Rengo
Samraku[1d]: roft
Samraku[1d]: rofl?
Vsotvep[2d]: which has been on the list for years
Samraku[1d]: rofl^
Samraku[1d]: I can't emote
Samraku[1d]: yeah
Samraku[1d]: Honestly, I'd prefer rengo (and-or zengo, which is really odd numbers >=3 rengo) to get implemented to TMG
Samraku[1d]: Since it feels less like a variant and more like just some different settin/gs
Panada[8k]: what is rengo
Vsotvep[2d]: Pair go
Samraku[1d]: two players on each team
Panada[8k]: ah
Samraku[1d]: who each play every other move
Vsotvep[2d]: 2 v 2, taking turns without communication
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: or rather, egf calls that pairgo
Panada[8k]: but then wouldnt the sequence have to be modified then?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: and rengo is 3 vs 3
Samraku[1d]: really?
Panada[8k]: from the video you posted this sequence is only fair if its between 2 people
Samraku[1d]: I thought rengo was the traditional 2v2, and pairgo was a newer twist where it had to be 1 female 1 male?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: and pairgo for some reason always have male-female pairs, while rengo teams are whatever
Samraku[1d]: Or is that just a Korean thing?
๐ KoBa ๐[1d]: idk, its egc thing too
Vsotvep[2d]: ้ฃ็ข, it just means "group go"
Vsotvep[2d]: it's Japanese
Samraku[1d]: you have nerd-sniped me
Samraku[1d]: I'm trying to remember that first kanji without using yomichan because I know it's on one of my flashcards
Vsotvep[2d]: it means more than just group, I actually had to look it up for the other meanings
Samraku[1d]: and it's not "un" that means luck or fortune; that has a hat thing
Samraku[1d]: yeah, if I wanted the meaning I'd hold shift and highlight for yomichan
Samraku[1d]: But I know I should know at least something about that kanji
Vsotvep[2d]: I know it best from ้ฃ็ตก, "meeting"
Vsotvep[2d]: ้
Samraku[1d]: Ahh, I used yomichan on it; it's one that I keep getting wrong
Samraku[1d]: I have a card that uses it in a verb meaning "to take along"
Samraku[1d]: I forget the reading :/
Samraku[1d]: obviously not "ren", but oh well
Samraku[1d]: with how much I'm getting it wrong I'm sure it's already ready for review in SRS :/
Vsotvep[2d]: ใใใ, I guess
Samraku[1d]: could be
Vsotvep[2d]: ้ฃใใ
Vsotvep[2d]: didn't know that word yet
Samraku[1d]: ahh
Samraku[1d]: that second is the one
Vsotvep[2d]: Good reminder, I should be doing my SRS, actually...
Samraku[1d]: :D
Vsotvep[2d]: /boots up anki
Samraku[1d]: I've tried anki before, but I really like kitsun because of the WK-style SRS
Samraku[1d]: And user-friendly interface
Vsotvep[2d]: I've made my anki cards *very* fancy
Samraku[1d]: Yeah, I've heard of some impressive things done with Anki
Vsotvep[2d]: I like how this has become completely off-topic
Samraku[1d]: I think it's gone off topic at least 3 or 4 times
Samraku[1d]: Well, have fun with Anki; out of curiousity, how do you normally add things?
Samraku[1d]: just things you come across from whereever?
Samraku[1d]: Or more systematic?
Vsotvep[2d]: I'm in the process of automating things
Vsotvep[2d]: I did a lot by hand, but it's quite a lot of time wasted adding new words
Vsotvep[2d]: so I'm now busy on writing a script that will put all JLPT2 vocab in there
Vsotvep[2d]: the main problem is that I insist on having furigana above the kanji, which makes things a lot harder
Samraku[1d]: :D
Samraku[1d]: I find furigana so tempting to look at
Vsotvep[2d]: So it's only visible after revealing the answer ;)
Samraku[1d]: oh, okay
Vsotvep[2d]: If you're interested I can share the deck with you after it's finished
Samraku[1d]: A Japanese manga I'm reading for practice has furigana and I have so much trouble not looking at it even when I recognize the kanji
Vsotvep[2d]: Doing all JLPT levels shouldn't me much more work, once it's automated
Samraku[1d]: I think N2 is a good deal above my level
Samraku[1d]: I think bunpro and WK along with adding words to my own SRS deck on kitsun is probably a good combination for me right now
Samraku[1d]: honestly it's probably already too much SRS and not enough immersion, even at my level
Vsotvep[2d]: can't hurt to have a larger vocabulary
Vsotvep[2d]: What really helped me a lot was https://www.imabi.net/
Vsotvep[2d]: Grammar for adults
Samraku[1d]: Unless you know 10,000 words, but don't know that "ga" is sometimes ommitted in casual speec.
Vsotvep[2d]: (I still don't know what "ga" really is :D)
Samraku[1d]: As in the phrase that everyone knows regardless of Japanese ability "sukida"
Samraku[1d]: subject marker
Samraku[1d]: disclaimer: I fully admit that I have subscribed to the cult of Cure Dolly
Panada[8k]: $*!% guys
Panada[8k]: i look away for one second and you had a whole other converstion
Panada[8k]: XD
Samraku[1d]: :D
Vsotvep[2d]: Cure Dolly creeps me out.... o.o However, the point of her first video is also why I like imabi: it's done from a linguistic perspective, with a focus on Japanese, not on translating English
Samraku[1d]: That's what I appreciate as well, along with her tendency to have an opinion which may be controversial, and refuse to apologize for it because she shouldn't apologize for being right. I respect that in people
Vsotvep[2d]: which opinion?
Panada[8k]: i tried learning japanese at one point. gave up since i didnt have anyone that could learn it with me. now im learning french
Samraku[1d]: All of them :D
Samraku[1d]: Basically every video is her presenting the "correct" way of looking at a grammar point
Samraku[1d]: And that seems to make some people view her as arrogant
Vsotvep[2d]: Hm
Samraku[1d]: But I'm a Milo Yiannopoulous (however you spell it) fan for partly the same reason: I respect sticking to one's guns when one believes one is not in the wrong.
Vsotvep[2d]: Well, grammar is just humans trying to make sense of an organic structure that we have come up with over the years. There's not really a "correct" way of looking at it
Samraku[1d]: true
Samraku[1d]: but some ways are more correct than others
Vsotvep[2d]: I respect it, as long as you can also admit when you're wrong after you find out you're wrong
Samraku[1d]: That's good too, because if you can't do that, then you either have to get very very lucky and just so happen to believe all the right things, or believe a bunch of false things
Samraku[1d]: I guess it's more like a respect multiplier for me. If you're right, I respect that, and if you stick to that, it's like a multiplier.
Samraku[1d]: But I think the multiplier is the bigger factor. Anyone can be right, but I really respect people who go out and say it regardless of any backlash
Vsotvep[2d]: Anyways, I'm going to do something useful
Vsotvep[2d]: cheers!
Samraku[1d]: HAve fun
Samraku[1d]: Want to play acorrespondecne game of TMG, Panada?
Samraku[1d]: As long as it's fast correspondence, though I'm fine with any reasonable time controls live if you wanted to schedule a game
