Iemoto

This group is made up of four “Go Houses”: Honinbo, Hayashi, Inoue, Yasui.

Igo Houses (Iemoto)

  • Each house has a current “head.” Anyone stronger than 5 kyu can become a head.
  • Each head chooses his/her own disciples. Heads are under no obligation to teach their disciples. However, they might want to do so for the sake of becoming Meijin. The disciples may be of ANY rank.

Castle Game Representatives

  • Each head must choose at least 1 and at most 2 representatives (“reps”) for the “Castle Games” from his/her pool of disciples.
  • Each Castle Game rep must be 15 kyu or weaker (ideally ~20 kyu).
  • We plan to expand Castle Game participation to a larger pool in the future, but we will maintain the limit for the first season of Castle Games.
  • Each house is encouraged to have activities for disciples who are not Castle Game participants.

Castle Game Rules/Mejin Determination

  • Castle Games use Japanese rules (19x19) and each side gets 5 minutes plus 5x1-minute byo-yomi periods.
  • Each Castle Game rep must play every other participant once.
  • A rep can earn at most 2 points from each Castle Game. A win is worth 2 points. A regular loss is worth 1. A loss without playing is worth 0.
  • The player who earns the most Castle Game points is the Castle Game champion.
  • The head of the house that produces the Castle Game champion becomes the Meijin.
  • Tie-breakers will be announced later.

Castle Game Timeline

  1. Castle Game reps are chosen and announced on the start date of the “season”.
  2. Starting from this date, three weeks are given for each house to train for the Castle Games.
  3. Three weeks after the start date, the reps will be allowed to play Castle Games against each other.
  4. The reps must report their plans to play a Castle Game before they actually do so.
  5. The report must contain a link to the game if possible.
  6. Six weeks after the start date of the season, the season ends and Castle Game points are calculated.

Our inaugural house heads are Inoue Mikasa, Honinbo xhu98, Yasui mark5000, and Hayashi lemmata.
