Move 7
saxmaam[10k]: Definitely some fighting spirit shown today
Move 8
NanashiHItori[18k]: you did not see last night game
Move 7
Samraku[10k]: I think this is fine, but do consider things like q10 and r10
Samraku[10k]: The enclosure in the upper left likes extensions at 1 or 2
NanashiHItori[18k]: I considered but an atack early on seems a good idea
Samraku[10k]: ok
Samraku[10k]: as long as you thought about it and dismissed it, that's fine
Move 17
Samraku[10k]: This is joseki, though A or B would be more common
Samraku[10k]: B most common, I think
Samraku[10k]: But this move is joseki, so obviously it's a good move :)
Move 18
NanashiHItori[18k]: i knew but i had something in my mind
Move 21
Samraku[10k]: ok :)
Move 23
Samraku[10k]: had you seen this reduction before?
NanashiHItori[18k]: yes
Samraku[10k]: ok
Move 24
NanashiHItori[18k]: but i forgot about
Move 25
Move 31
Samraku[10k]: I don't think this move is necessary
Samraku[10k]: whenever you have a small or large knight, take the time to read if you really need to defend. Sometimes you don't mind being cut
NanashiHItori[18k]: yeah looking now its seems so
Samraku[10k]: here you have influence, influence if for getting favorable fights, and it would be a bad Idea for me to cut
Move 34
Samraku[10k]: tenuki here
NanashiHItori[18k]: here betthe i would play in the bottom
Samraku[10k]: you have sente and t5 is small
NanashiHItori[18k]: i always hurry up to close (afraid of invasion
Move 34 + 5
Samraku[10k]: this is the worst white can do
Samraku[10k]: It's 3 points in sente for white and there are much larger things right now
Samraku[10k]: Defending is good, but part of improving is not only learning to defend better, but learning when you can get away with not defending
NanashiHItori[18k]: understood
Samraku[10k]: Generally 1st line moves in the opening are not good, so if you're about to play one, that might be a good clue that you should take some clock time to make sure it's a good move
Move 37
Samraku[10k]: This is building the center in gote
Samraku[10k]: You only want to build points in the center if you can do it in sente by attacking something
Samraku[10k]: or if you're go seigen and you've counted the board and know that building the center in gote will win you the game by .5 points
saxmaam[10k]: Great review Samraku, I'm learning stuff, too
Samraku[10k]: I'm still trying to learn how to use influence, so don't feel bad, it's hard
Samraku[10k]: The center is very difficult to hold
Move 51
Samraku[10k]: same thing, building tthe center
Move 73
Samraku[10k]: Very nice job not automatically defending the topand instead splitting my groups
NanashiHItori[18k]: now I can see what you mean with center
NanashiHItori[18k]: its took me a wile to think that move
Samraku[10k]: You actually managed to get more out of the center than I thought you would because you were fighting well, so good job on that. :)
NanashiHItori[18k]: to see varition in your head is quite overwhelming
Samraku[10k]: But the next time you find yourself in a similar situation, you'll be more likely to think of a move like this up front. The more you run into it, the quicker you'll become at reading it. The important thing is not how long it took, but that you succeeded in finding the move
Move 107
Samraku[10k]: good job realizing that m9 was not that big
Move 127
Samraku[10k]: this was a nice move
Samraku[10k]: it definitley limited how much I could get out of this
Move 133
NanashiHItori[18k]: t16 seemed small
Samraku[10k]: ok, the capture is fine, I see what it was preventing now
Samraku[10k]: I think there were bigger things, but it's not a bad move
Move 166
NanashiHItori[18k]: here i missread
Samraku[10k]: two liberties, empty triangle, on the edge of the board, keep an eye out for this
Samraku[10k]: I've lost games from missing this shape
Move 195
NanashiHItori[18k]: good review Thanks a lot
Samraku[10k]: So you were good at fighting and knew to attack weak groups, which was good
Samraku[10k]: but don't build the center in gote
NanashiHItori[18k]: Understood
Samraku[10k]: You're welcome; please tell me if there were issues with the review or with my presentation of the information, I can't improve if I don't know that I'm doing something wrong
NanashiHItori[18k]: The review was good for me you pointed the major problems without tons of variations and for me is a plus
NanashiHItori[18k]: because seing to many variation at low level i think is confusing
Samraku[10k]: I try to avoid talking about reading in reviews, though I did make a minor exception here
NanashiHItori[18k]: is best to tlk about moves but not in too many variations.
Samraku[10k]: like in the upper left?
NanashiHItori[18k]: i like you pointed intersections in place of putting variation on the goban
Samraku[10k]: ok; I've been getting more comfortable with the OGS interface lately
NanashiHItori[18k]: some people need example 1 ore 2
NanashiHItori[18k]: so 1 variation is good.
NanashiHItori[18k]: 3 ore more is bad for beginners
Samraku[10k]: ok, that's a good rule of thumb
Samraku[10k]: I try to read out a variation before I put it on the board in a review, but I do make mistakes rather regularly :)
NanashiHItori[18k]: i learn to see variation in my head or i compare with some tsumego i know
Samraku[10k]: That's good, not relying too much on seeing the stones in variation probably helped you in those fights :)
NanashiHItori[18k]: in most cases i miss some moves
Samraku[10k]: So do I :)
NanashiHItori[18k]: i play most on time on ma real goban
Samraku[10k]: Are there a lot of go players in Rumania?
NanashiHItori[18k]: and a stone put is not movable
Samraku[10k]: Romania^
NanashiHItori[18k]: yes
NanashiHItori[18k]: and some strong
NanashiHItori[18k]: we have a 5p fron nihon kiin
NanashiHItori[18k]: and a ex insei
Samraku[10k]: Nice; I wish go was more popular here
NanashiHItori[18k]: catalin taranu sensei 5P
NanashiHItori[18k]: i play once in his club
NanashiHItori[18k]: here is 2 place or third first is soccer 2 chess and after Go
Samraku[10k]: hmmm, I don't know where sports would fall over here, but chess is definitly more popular than go in America.
Samraku[10k]: Even if they don't play, everyone here knows what chess is. Virtually noone knows what go is
NanashiHItori[18k]: i want to be 10k in a year. Last night i stated after loosing badly.
Samraku[10k]: That's definitley attainable
NanashiHItori[18k]: i am worse at chess than in go :))
Samraku[10k]: so am I, I am downright bad at chess
NanashiHItori[18k]: i tried japaese chess only one victory till now
NanashiHItori[18k]: loses.... i did not coun
Samraku[10k]: ooh, I was into shogi for a while. I think I had like a 5% win rate or something
Samraku[10k]: and I think 3 of my wins were against someone who had never played
Samraku[10k]: that was on 81dojo
NanashiHItori[18k]: i played wheni was in Japan i stayed near a go shogi club
NanashiHItori[18k]: on 81dojo i have only loses
Samraku[10k]: that sounds like fun. :) They didn't get into fights with eachother like in Hikaru no Go? ;)
Samraku[10k]: can you access youtube?
NanashiHItori[18k]: bat was some talking that one is more strategical than other
NanashiHItori[18k]: yes
Samraku[10k]: are you subscribed to "In Sente"?
Samraku[10k]: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9EdUZVpIPU check out this video on losing streaks
Samraku[10k]: the advice can apply to things besides go, so you may have hear it all before, but if you're wondering how to deal with them, this would be a good place to check
Samraku[10k]: "may have heard", not "may have hear"
NanashiHItori[18k]: i subscribed just now
Samraku[10k]: Dwyrin who you already mentioned is of course a great resource too.
Samraku[10k]: there are quite a few good go channels now
NanashiHItori[18k]: i am subscribed at the majority
Samraku[10k]: Same here
Samraku[10k]: Unless there's a super exclusive group of go players who only upload private videos and only share them with members :)
Samraku[10k]: then I'm missing out
NanashiHItori[18k]: i like haylee because she try to explain the moves she makes (even if there are high dan games
Samraku[10k]: Yeah, she's great, though sometimes a it's a little discouraging to stare at an "easy" life and death problem and have no clue where to start :)
Samraku[10k]: but yes, I look forward to seeing her videos
NanashiHItori[18k]: help me to don't play blitz games. Bad habit from chess where i play fast
Samraku[10k]: Yeah, I don't really play chess that often, but when I feel like getting a few games in, I tend to play extremely fast time controls. Blitz or faster. Go I tend to prefer time controls as long as I have time for
Samraku[10k]: because of byo yomi, it's a lot better to spend too much of your main time on something, than too little, so that's nice.
NanashiHItori[18k]: i have to learn to play a little slow
NanashiHItori[18k]: and to stare at the board much more time
Samraku[10k]: well, good luck to you. :)
Samraku[10k]: thanks for playing
