[21:36] 아저씨[20k]: Hi, after the game is finished, can you tell me what my biggest problems are, and what things I should learn?
Move 101
[21:37] Chlowski[2k]: Sure, we can review the game afterwards
Move 102
[21:53] 아저씨[20k]: Thanks! 🙂👍🏽

[14:25] 아저씨[20k]: Wasn't sure what move to play here. Decided that connecting at H16 to increase the liberties of the two stones at G was the best idea.
Move 132
[21:54] 아저씨[20k]: I played at n14 because I don'y think the 3 stones at Q14 are as important

[8:44] 아저씨[20k]: I learnt about the monkey jump yesterday. So I blocked A11

[21:30] Chlowski[2k]: How long have you been playing go ?

March 20, 2023
[18:03] 아저씨[21k]: Since the end of January
[18:04] 아저씨[21k]: Sorry i didn't see your message. It's hard to see messages on the phone. I only saw it now because I'm on my laptop
[18:04] 아저씨[21k]: I've been playing for 2 months.
Move 216
[18:13] 아저씨[21k]: How long have you been playing?
Move 218
[18:16] Chlowski[2k]: No problem
Move 219
[18:16] Chlowski[2k]: I've been playing for 2 years and a half, 3 years maybe
Move 220
[18:18] 아저씨[21k]: How did you start? How did you learn about the game?
Move 222
[18:19] Chlowski[2k]: I read Hikaru no Go, like a lot of westerners
Move 226
[18:21] 아저씨[21k]: Ah, I've heard about it.
Move 228
[18:23] Chlowski[2k]: How did you learn about Go ?
[18:24] 아저씨[21k]: I first saw it in a Korean drama a few years ago, maybe around 2020, but I wasn't that interested in it then.
[18:24] 아저씨[21k]: Then I saw it again, in another Korean drama 😂 this year... and it seemed very interesting to me.
Move 230
[18:26] Chlowski[2k]: Oh I see ^^ it is very interesting indeed
[18:28] 아저씨[21k]: The first drama I saw was about teenage life, it was more of a comedy/teenage life type show, but one of the teenagers was a professional Go player. I think he was based on a real Korean go player.
[18:28] Chlowski[2k]: Oh ok ! what was this drama ?
[18:28] 아저씨[21k]: But the 2nd show I watched, was about Justice/Revenge... and the main character learned to play Go, and it helped her to plan her strategy for her revenge.
[18:29] 아저씨[21k]: The first one was called "Reply 1988" it's set in 1988 but it was filmed in 2017 I think...
[18:29] 아저씨[21k]: The 2nd show was called "The Glory"
[18:30] 아저씨[21k]: both of them are on Netflix
Move 231
[18:30] Chlowski[2k]: I heard about the 2nd, maybe I'll take a look
Move 232
[18:33] 아저씨[21k]: I bought a lot of Go books, so I'm trying to learn. But it's a bit frustrating... Because the more I read, the more mistakes I see in my correspondence games.
[18:33] 아저씨[21k]: When I learn new concepts, it makes me feel like resigning my games and starting again, because I can see all the mistakes I'm making. 😬
Move 233
[18:44] Chlowski[2k]: From experience, I'd say when you're a beginner it's better to play and review your games with a stronger player, instead of reading too many books with too many concepts to absorb
[18:45] Chlowski[2k]: And probably live games instead of correspondance ^^
Move 234
[19:02] 아저씨[21k]: Yeah, i think the live games will be better too. I think when I'm playing too many correspondence games, I forget what my plan was. Or my focus is on too many things.
[19:02] 아저씨[21k]: I think I will play more live games from now on.
[19:04] 아저씨[21k]: I don't know what else to do in this game now... It's over for me.
[19:04] 아저씨[21k]: Should I pass or Resign? Is it rude to resign?
Move 235
[19:08] Chlowski[2k]: Resign is good when you think there 's nothing more to do
Move 236
[19:09] Chlowski[2k]: But here we can just go to counting
[19:39] 아저씨[21k]: I don't know if you can see my old messages/notes now?
[19:40] Chlowski[2k]: I'm going to look
[19:41] 아저씨[21k]: I'm just going to eat now, I'll come back shortly.
[19:41] Chlowski[2k]: maybe I'll just take time to say a few things about the opening
[19:42] Chlowski[2k]: Variation: K17 is weird here
[19:42] Chlowski[2k]: Variation: you wanna approach from the "weak" side, to avoid a corner enclosure
[19:43] Chlowski[2k]: Variation: nowadays we tend to prefer this variation, gives a bigger corner
[19:44] Chlowski[2k]: Variation: something like this is better, what you did gives too much to white
Move 30
[21:18] 아저씨[21k]: Actually I haven't learnt any Joseki patterns yet. I was just playing where it feels natural. But I know I need to learn some.
[21:19] 아저씨[21k]: Yes, K17 is weird. I'm not sure why i played it. My normal move would bt to enclose a corner at P17 to P3.
[21:20] 아저씨[21k]: I didn't know about approaching from the weak side. Is it better to approach/attack an un-enclosed corner before enclosing your own corner?
[21:21] 아저씨[21k]: When you say "nowadays" you mean after AI right?
[21:22] 아저씨[21k]: You also played D4
[21:22] 아저씨[21k]: Is the correct approach the 3x3 point?
Move 236
[21:26] Chlowski[2k]: Joseki is not at all required at the beginning, most important is to know some principles and direction of play
Move 30
[21:27] 아저씨[21k]: Direction of play meaning which way you push your opponent?
Move 236
[21:27] Chlowski[2k]: I'm gonna open a review
Move 30
[21:27] 아저씨[21k]: oh, cool. I'll have a look. Thanks!
