Move 9
January 17, 2024
[21:28] sigue[1k]: I'm going to play always what I think are very straight-forward moves. Nothing tricky.
Move 12
[21:38] TenkuuCastle[15k]: sounds good!
[21:40] TenkuuCastle[15k]: So I end up in this position sometimes (usually I'm the attacker), my impulse is usually just to extend, but is there something better to do?
Move 13
[21:41] sigue[1k]: q14 is fine. r14 is more conservative and secures the corner.
Move 15
[21:41] sigue[1k]: Right now the top right corner is still possible to invade.
Move 16
[21:42] sigue[1k]: d5 is unusual. don't think i've seen it before.
Move 17
[21:43] TenkuuCastle[15k]: the idea was to sort of push down into the corner, but it seems like that was too close?
[21:57] sigue[1k]: The main thing I notice about d5 is that it gives white the choice of which side to protect. I chose d4 because it starts to make territory on the 4th line whereas c5 is on 3rd line so not as much territory.
Move 24
[23:32] sigue[1k]: I think I see the problem here. c5 is probably not good because it allows white to hane in either direction. You always want to be leading the push. For example, play e5 instead of c5.
[23:33] sigue[1k]: We can look at it later...
[23:33] sigue[1k]: (e5 has it's problems too. :) )
Move 25
[23:35] TenkuuCastle[15k]: that makes sense!
Move 31

[5:40] TenkuuCastle[15k]: I feel like c14 could make sense here?
[5:40] TenkuuCastle[15k]: *c13
[16:01] sigue[1k]: c13 is too loose. I makes it very easy for white to live with c17 after reinforcing the f17 stone.
Move 32
[16:04] sigue[1k]: Variation: I like c14 at f16 instead.
Move 33
[18:10] TenkuuCastle[15k]: oh yeah that does look a lot easier to defend
Move 35
[22:15] TenkuuCastle[15k]: so at this point my first instinct is to start trying to invade/attack, but is there more early-game stuff I should have taken care of first?
January 19, 2024
[3:53] sigue[1k]: One way to think of it is: if your opponent plays a completely defensive move like k4, they probably feared that you would play there. :)
Move 36
[4:04] sigue[1k]: I just realized that I probably wouldn't play q5 against a 1k. I should probably just play n5 instead to help solidify my moyo.

[19:53] sigue[1k]: How do you think the game looks at this point?
[22:03] TenkuuCastle[15k]: So I’m definitely not doing great along the bottom (especially the bottom left), but I think I’m doing alright along the left & right sides
[22:04] TenkuuCastle[15k]: I think ultimately though you’re fairly far ahead because I don’t really have enough influence on the center to make up for the bottom/top
Move 51
[22:52] sigue[1k]: That sounds about right, yes. So let's stop here and start a new one. I'll make a few comments a bit later. Right now I need to do something else.
January 22, 2024
[3:43] TenkuuCastle[15k]: Sounds great, thank you again!
[17:40] sigue[1k]: I put a few comments in the review, but the really big problem was the approach at d5.
[17:41] sigue[1k]: even after d5 d4 the AI really wants you to hane at e4.
[17:41] sigue[1k]: Hane at the head of two stones, I guess.
