[21:27] ajiadjuster[1k]: Hi, have a good game!
[21:39] canyonclimber[12k]: Hi. You too!
[21:40] canyonclimber[12k]: Which Location do you go to for the Houston go club? I been going to montrose location
Move 2
[23:16] ajiadjuster[1k]: Same, but I've been inconsistent for a while now.
[23:17] ajiadjuster[1k]: Are you interested in ongoing discussion of moves and such, or are you more into review afterward (or both)?
[23:43] canyonclimber[12k]: I'm fine with both!
Move 4
[23:45] ajiadjuster[1k]: ok, we'll do a combo - feel free to ask questions along the way
Move 5
[23:56] canyonclimber[12k]: THanks
Move 17
January 8, 2025
[0:57] ajiadjuster[1k]: What sense do you already have about your strengths and weaknesses?
Move 19
January 9, 2025
[17:39] canyonclimber[12k]: I tend to overextend and play too aggressive. Have issues with keeping direction of play consistent
Move 44
January 10, 2025
[5:10] canyonclimber[12k]: Idk if that was the right move but it felt like you were leaning on my group to double approach the corner. Was I right in defending corner?
Move 45
[5:15] ajiadjuster[1k]: Q6 seems reasonable, as you have good prospects for territory.
[5:16] ajiadjuster[1k]: I didn't have a plan yet. Just splitting your groups to create weaknesses.
[5:18] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: I might like this kind of idea for Black better, since my left side is weak
[5:19] canyonclimber[12k]: I was considering H6 as an alternative to Q6 but I knew both were key points
[5:20] ajiadjuster[1k]: The thing about Q6 is that it doesn't threaten me at all. H6 helps you and weakens me
[5:21] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: Interesting weaknesses in my shape
Move 46
[5:22] canyonclimber[12k]: That’s true. I ended up giving you sente
Move 59
[17:32] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: I think I like this better - more flexibility and prevents the jump at H8. you aren't gaining eye space either way
[17:33] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: when you have a weak group, better to run out quickly, unless you see a definite good result from an attack like H7
[17:33] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: this is better shape, usually, and, again heads out to the center
[17:35] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: I played N7 to prevent some forcing moves, but hopefully you saw that these were never in danger from the cut
Move 60
[17:36] ajiadjuster[1k]: how do you read the situation at this point?
[17:58] canyonclimber[12k]: I know I’m definitely in a losing situation. I have been seeing the variations you have shown me prior to moving but for some reason I keep choosing the worse option. My wedge at h7 was with hopes of creating future cutting points but it was fruitless. Now I’m either running out and letting you gain influence and territory or giving up the group which gives you a winning amount of territory
Move 62
[18:03] ajiadjuster[1k]: I don't know if this will be comforting or not, but what you describe - seeing the good move, and choosing the less good move - will never stop. I do it constantly. It's not about being perfect, but just learning to find better moves or form better habits
[18:04] ajiadjuster[1k]: The reason running out quickly would have been better is that it reduces my ability to pressure your group to my advantage
[18:04] canyonclimber[12k]: It’s good to know that I can at least see the move even though my reasoning/intuition isn’t there yet
Move 63
[18:07] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: this isn't making territory or even eyes yet, but you have a lot more freedom and flexibility. there's at least potential for you to gain something on the right side, and my left side isn't solid either
Move 66
[18:14] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: I still think jumping is better here
[18:14] ajiadjuster[1k]: what was the idea behind J10?
[18:15] canyonclimber[12k]: Thought I might be able to pressure a group but I forget that I can’t attack with a weak group
Move 68
[18:22] ajiadjuster[1k]: Did you expect a certain response from me when you played J10?
[18:28] canyonclimber[12k]: Not really. I figured you’d play the way you did. I guess I just wanted more cutting points or something
Move 69
[18:37] canyonclimber[12k]: I probably should just resign at this point. Would it be alright if we started a new game?
[18:38] ajiadjuster[1k]: I would say poking around for cutting points can be a good strategy against weaker players or in handicap games
[18:38] ajiadjuster[1k]: otherwise, I think you need a definite plan for what to do with those cutting points
[18:39] ajiadjuster[1k]: sure, we can start a new game
[18:40] ajiadjuster[1k]: can you see the AI review on this, or is that only visible to me?
[18:40] canyonclimber[12k]: I see it
[18:43] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: I thought O3 was a good move and I wasn'
[18:43] ajiadjuster[1k]: I wasn't sure how to respond
[18:45] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: I looked at N3, but didn't like letting you connect or form a wall with N5
[18:46] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: AI agrees that N4 was poorly timed because it lets you lean on my weak group on the left with G5
[18:47] canyonclimber[12k]: I guess I need to keep applying pressure because playing away isn’t a good option
[18:48] ajiadjuster[1k]: Variation: if we both run out, AI says we're basically even
[18:49] canyonclimber[12k]: I knew the jump was a good idea but I always feel apprehensive when I start jumping like that
