[16:00] Misawa[5k]: Oh, Asheville is beautiful. Have some friends there. Love going to Biltmore. We moved away from Louisville about 4 years ago. In the San Diego area now.

[16:01] GoFogey[3k]: Love the weather in San Diego! I've been there a couple of times. I have a friend in Oceanside.

[16:03] GoFogey[3k]: We're here for retirement. It's beautiful here, yes, but also much less expensive to live here.

[16:05] Misawa[5k]: Wow cool. Yes we went the other way on cost of living here. Mainly in terms of real estate. It food here is much cheaper.

[16:06] GoFogey[3k]: Well I'd expect so, but I haven't had time to search it out.

[16:12] Misawa[5k]: Seeing 500 or so people playing Go was amazing. I still wonder why it wasn’t 5000 though

[16:18] GoFogey[3k]: Yeah, I've been playing go for 40 years... or I should say, I've known how to play for 40 years. Finding a go player has not been easy. The internet has made it so much more accessible. Hopefully Go will catch on here.

[16:27] Misawa[5k]: Same here. I’ve played for 30 years or so. But I taught most of the people I played until the internet came along. Literally that was one of the first things I went hunting for on the internet was ways to play go. I would have killed to have a site like this back in the 80’s and 90’s when I started learning to play.

[16:29] Misawa[5k]: I wish better sets were mass produced. The first set I bought at a hobby store was this dreadful plastic thing. I then had to write Ishi Press to get their catalog and mail order my first proper set. Even now, getting a good set isn’t easy.

[16:33] GoFogey[3k]: Right, me too. I got a nice slate and shell set with a 2 inch board... I rarely use it, only when my friend comes to visit. He's been my Go partner over the last 40 years. Now it's hard to play on anything except the computer monitor!

[16:36] Misawa[5k]: Yes. I’m teaching my kids, so I leave it out. But if it weren’t for that, it would never be used. I’m thinking about trying to start a go club in my end of town. We’ll see. I truly think if it got wider exposure it would catch on more. At least I want to think that.

[16:41] GoFogey[3k]: I tried teaching my kids... either I'm a poor teacher or got them at the wrong time. They're grown now: 29 & 30. My older son's girlfriend does play but just with her brother... and she says he always beats her.

[16:57] Misawa[5k]: My older son likes it. Or says he does. He only plays me. He’s 16 and distracted with being 16. We’ll see if he really develops. He’s probably humoring me :-)
