Move 25
March 6, 2024
[12:13] www.may69.com[7k]: my first mistake. Q17 was better. From this point the AI shows me as losing
Move 31
[12:13] www.may69.com[7k]: a bit slow? but I didnt want to be wedged
Move 61
[12:15] www.may69.com[7k]: maybe a surround move at N11 or K12 was better?
Move 68
[12:15] www.may69.com[7k]: now the bottom is almost enclosed by White which is how I lost the game
Move 77
[12:16] www.may69.com[7k]: no time to be greedy - play the biggest move either reduce or invade the bottom... my eyes got focused on getting something out of my attack.... but this is not the profit I should've been looking for
Move 19
March 8, 2024
[12:39] smiling_turtle[1k]: Q17 seems a bit like a strange direction to me. I think this is the perfect place for a pincer around M16 (high if you want to be balanced) or N17 if you want both sides. Q14 is considered slow in most cases, leaving White with an easy way to settle with a base at R17.
[12:40] smiling_turtle[1k]: Oops I meant to say Q14 (not Q17).
Move 25
[12:41] smiling_turtle[1k]: S16 is too passive. You are just trying to make territory.
Move 24
[12:42] smiling_turtle[1k]: Instead of S16, Q17 is much better.
Move 27
[12:46] smiling_turtle[1k]: S13 is very very slow. Definitely not needed. Play a bigger move like O14 or O6, inviting White to invade so you restrict it to a small space and build lots of influence. If you absolutely need to just get territory, place something like R10 or R11, but I don't think that's the right move. Another option is to attach to Q4 so you start solidifying the right side which will also help if White invades.
Move 29
[12:47] smiling_turtle[1k]: I like C12.
Move 31
[12:47] smiling_turtle[1k]: D12 is bad. Jump out with E12 or F12.
Move 30 + 1
[12:50] smiling_turtle[1k]: I think I prefer F12, but the point is to get out quickly and be flexible. Worse case scenario you give your opponent, but get some influence that would work well with your stones on the top.
[12:51] smiling_turtle[1k]: ... give your opponent territory*... (wish I could edit text)
Move 33
[12:51] smiling_turtle[1k]: Again way too slow. Why not jump our or at least kosumi?
Move 39
[12:52] smiling_turtle[1k]: I think this pillar cost you the game. Your opponent is making lighter moves that you and you aren't really attacking them.
Move 47
[12:52] smiling_turtle[1k]: Good move. Great that you ignored!
[12:53] smiling_turtle[1k]: F14, that is!
Move 48
[12:55] smiling_turtle[1k]: E15 was wrong direction. It's time to attack. Lean on N16, for example. Or at least jump at K12 to try and separate White on the next move. The point is you don't want White to connect.
Move 51
[12:56] smiling_turtle[1k]: D14 is a very small move too. White is already alive on the left. Find something bigger like trying to cut the two space White stones. If you don't play that, then at least look at the bottom right corner that is also big.
Move 55
[12:57] smiling_turtle[1k]: O15 is great! A bit late, but great to have found this!
Move 73
[12:59] smiling_turtle[1k]: L12 was a lost opportunity. Even if you can't separately completely, try to make "cuts in White's shape by extending at M12. Even if they play "geta", you can still try and make places to cut later.
Move 77
[13:00] smiling_turtle[1k]: K15 was slow. White then took a large point.
Move 79
[13:02] smiling_turtle[1k]: Again, L16 was slow. White's moyo is big and quite dangerous.
Move 76 + 3
[13:03] smiling_turtle[1k]: Given the moyo, I think I would have tried to attach on the bottom to get strength first, then see if I can expand on that. If lucky, make you can start attacking the floating White group, but I wouldn't do that directly.
Move 97
[13:04] smiling_turtle[1k]: By this point, White's moyo is too strong and Black has lost the game.
[13:07] smiling_turtle[1k]: To summarise, I think you need to remember to take a step back and look for big moves. These moves are usually far away from your opponent's living groups. Also, play "looser" when invading. It's okay to leave some stones behind, you just need to think about profiting, which typically means either living locally or letting your opponent live very "flat" (3rd line) so you get influence.
