Move 128 + 10
jvandenbusken[3d]: Now I feel a bit behind
koszu1995[3k]: and what`s the balance them?
koszu1995[3k]: oh really?
Move 128 + 15
jvandenbusken[3d]: you can reduce here I think
Move 128
jvandenbusken[3d]: this was a bit tricky from me
koszu1995[3k]: yeah perhaps I should have reconsidered such a variation
jvandenbusken[3d]: I played it knowing it was not optimal. Bad style from me
koszu1995[3k]: I didn`t want to give up this corner though
Move 128 + 4
jvandenbusken[3d]: you don't give it up completely
koszu1995[3k]: that`s my typical problem when I don`t count territory :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: I've started counting only lately
koszu1995[3k]: :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: up until 1d just fighting and killing stuff would bring me solid results
jvandenbusken[3d]: now with AI, everyone roughly knows the weak points in each shape
jvandenbusken[3d]: so tricking the opponent into a weird fight is harder
koszu1995[3k]: I don`t really use tricks except some specific situations :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: which forced me to count and overplay less
Move 116 + 5
jvandenbusken[3d]: you could probe this
koszu1995[3k]: what does it change?
jvandenbusken[3d]: not that it changes drastically
jvandenbusken[3d]: well, 1 more move for the R2 group
Move 116 + 20
koszu1995[3k]: well, I would quickly become a dan player, should I count such possibilities in a course of game :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: hmmm hard for me to say something about this shape
jvandenbusken[3d]: can't see something direct
koszu1995[3k]: risky still
Move 116 + 15
koszu1995[3k]: and requiring deep analyse
jvandenbusken[3d]: well
koszu1995[3k]: which is hard to provide during limited time
jvandenbusken[3d]: I judge most of these variation by "feeling"
koszu1995[3k]: the same for me
jvandenbusken[3d]: not reading everything out, no time for that
koszu1995[3k]: so here comes the 3k feeling vs 3d feeling
jvandenbusken[3d]: how long have you been playing?
koszu1995[3k]: since march/april 2018
jvandenbusken[3d]: oh fairly recently still then
koszu1995[3k]: I used to play 6/7 games per day while living in Greece at Erasmus+ :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: oh nice, what were you studying?
koszu1995[3k]: I`ve got 1k more per each month
koszu1995[3k]: so thorugh one year I`ve graduated from 15k to 5k
koszu1995[3k]: I`m historian
koszu1995[3k]: Right now working on PhD regarding late antique/byzantine cities in Levant
jvandenbusken[3d]: sounds like a sea worth of history to study
jvandenbusken[3d]: as in, huge amount of material
koszu1995[3k]: yeah
koszu1995[3k]: I will be narrowing this topic then
koszu1995[3k]: I currently stay in Jerusalem
jvandenbusken[3d]: cool, field study
koszu1995[3k]: :)
koszu1995[3k]: hope it`s gonna be beneficious
jvandenbusken[3d]: living while observing stuff
koszu1995[3k]: yeah it`s hard to imagine a better place for such studies
koszu1995[3k]: especially when Syria and Lebanon are to unstable for a visit
jvandenbusken[3d]: yeah, very unfortunate :(
koszu1995[3k]: yeah, it`s particularly unfortunate in terms of archaeology
koszu1995[3k]: which recently provided us with a very useful amount of knowledge from Israel and Jordan
koszu1995[3k]: and how did you start to play?
jvandenbusken[3d]: tell me when you finish writing theses about this stuff. While I find it intriguing, I'm highly ignorant about it
jvandenbusken[3d]: in the ancient era of 2007, when the strongest AI was ayabot [3d]
koszu1995[3k]: :)
koszu1995[3k]: you know I wish I would write anything as for now :D
jvandenbusken[3d]: recently I've started improving a bit thanks to AI and IGLO
koszu1995[3k]: the best thing I can do is to recommend you a literature created by scholars far more experienced than me :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: is there something beginner friendly among those?
koszu1995[3k]: you play face to face now in Netherlands?
koszu1995[3k]: sth can be found
jvandenbusken[3d]: I actually live in Italy. I moved from the Netherlands when I was 6
jvandenbusken[3d]: but soon I will attend a serious go club in Pisa, I will move there soon
koszu1995[3k]: I don`t know about this
koszu1995[3k]: but this paper shows nicely what`s the actual research problem
koszu1995[3k]: and how the studies are being led in this topic
jvandenbusken[3d]: cool, thanks :)
koszu1995[3k]: oh playing in Italy must be a great experience :)
koszu1995[3k]: there`s actually a lot of books, reports and papers in this matter
koszu1995[3k]: it just hard to estimate for me which one would be appropriate for the person who`s not working daily with such issues :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: hmm, would it be possible to contact some1 from universities around you to ask for directions about it?
koszu1995[3k]: you mean in Jerusalem?
jvandenbusken[3d]: a japanese friend of mine came to Italy to study immigration related issues, he's been bouncing around universities in Italy to meet up with several teachers
jvandenbusken[3d]: yes, in Jerusalem
koszu1995[3k]: oh I`m in contact with several professors here
koszu1995[3k]: it`s one of the reasons why I came here
jvandenbusken[3d]: oh ok, that's good then
koszu1995[3k]: Poland is actually a second-league country (although we have some decent specialists) when it comes to ancient and especially byzantine studies
koszu1995[3k]: the biggest problem is actually an access to literature
koszu1995[3k]: so every time you want to start some deeper research
koszu1995[3k]: a foreign quarry in libraries is sometimes inevitable to find materials you need
jvandenbusken[3d]: sounds...interesting
jvandenbusken[3d]: but not optimal
koszu1995[3k]: yeah, now things improved significantly
koszu1995[3k]: thanks to the internet resources, open access and not-so-legal databases
koszu1995[3k]: but I`d rather not imagine how my precedessors` work looked like 20 years ago without such facilities :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: anyway, I gtg now. The game was fun and difficult. If you play like this every game, you should win and climb the ranks quickly. I would also recommend continuing some games until yose, even if you're behind. Refining your yose also requires a lot of practice
koszu1995[3k]: yeah I surrender rarely :)
koszu1995[3k]: the thing is probably about doing tsumego
koszu1995[3k]: which I don`t make systematically
jvandenbusken[3d]: same unfortunately
koszu1995[3k]: furthermore since traditional tournaments ceased to be organised
koszu1995[3k]: there`s no way to improve a rank
koszu1995[3k]: except the internet
koszu1995[3k]: so I lost most of hope that I become dan in a predictable future :)
jvandenbusken[3d]: internet can provide a lot though, I played from 30k to 5k exclusively on internet
koszu1995[3k]: yeah that was the same with me
koszu1995[3k]: I`m talking rather about official confirmation
jvandenbusken[3d]: real life tournaments are more fun though
koszu1995[3k]: as I already have 1d on pandanet
koszu1995[3k]: sure :)
koszu1995[3k]: thanks a lot for game and commentary!
jvandenbusken[3d]: thanks to you, nice talking to you
jvandenbusken[3d]: see you!
koszu1995[3k]: :)
