20 kyu and up to keep new players who potentially abandon Go thus causing their opponent to have to wait for timeouts out of the tournament.

This is a McMahon Simultaneous tournament. There are McMahon bars and that’s what causes some people to have negative points at the beginning of a tournament. There are upper and lower bars: If you rank above the upper bar, start with 0 points. If you are within the ranks, you lose 1 point for every rank you are away from the top.

If it looks like the scoring system really unfairly penalizes people, I will set every players’ points to 0 manually.
